Counsel - Japan

Location: Tokyo, Japan 

Our client is a US headquartered institutional asset management firm with offices all over Asia including Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo. They are actively investing in public and private debt and equity securities, direct investments in private companies and real estate. 

• Currently, our client is seeking an attorney to join the Legal & Compliance team in Asia. The position is expected to be based in Tokyo with a Japan focus but will also involve other Asian markets.

• This is a generalist legal position and the Attorney filling this role will develop expertise in a broad spectrum of legal, transactional, regulatory compliance and operational issues relating to fund management in Japan and Asia. 

• The position will report to the Asia General Counsel based in Singapore. 

• Someone with 4-8+ years of relevant experience at a top-tier international law firm, preferably in Japan, or at a Japanese top-tier firm (relevant experience in investment banks or funds in Asia will also be considered)

• Must be fluent Japanese speaker (native or business level) and able to dealt in Japanese.

• Compensation will be competitive

•  Hours- regular hours with occasionally night calls. Weekend work not typical.
